KanAm Grund, new member of the Green Rating Initiative’s Governance Committee

Frankfurt, June 9, 2010 - KanAm Grund, the open-ended fund arm of KanAm Group, a leading German investment company for open-ended and closed-end real estate funds, has joined the Governance Committee of the Green Rating initiative.

Launched by AXA Real Estate, AEW Europe, Bureau Veritas, GE Capital Real Estate Europe and ING Real Estate Investment Management, Green Rating aims at providing a consistent decision making tool to assess, benchmark and improve the environmental performance of existing buildings across borders.

Olivier Catusse, Managing Director of KanAm Grund and responsible for the worldwide asset management of the 7 Billion Euros KanAm funds, quoted:

“Assessed on site by an independent third party, the rating provides factual environmental information and objective basis for property owners, managers and tenants in their decisions to acquire, lease, finance, renovate or dispose. Green Rating will give our teams the opportunity to better anticipate decisions and actions of future investments by being able to benchmark their real estate portfolio amongst those of best and institutional professional peers in Europe. We share similar views than the founding members when it comes to the importance of the sustainability theme and appropriate tools to measure them”.

As of end 2009, more than 150 buildings have been assessed through the Green Rating initiative, representing more than 1.5 millions sqm with 17 participating leading international companies, covering office, retail and logistic assets. The target is to reach 5 millions sqm by the end of this year.

Initiative members are currently working on new deliveries, with an online databank mining tool expected in September.
